Saturday 5-14-22 Icherisheher - Baku Old City

Started the day with a cup of Espresso.

At 11:15 AM I ordered a BOLT to take us to Icherisheher, Baku Old City. It was an 11 minute ride and cost 1.92 Minat, including the tip. That is $1.13.

He dropped us off at the end of a narrow street going uphill to the Old City

It was a very narrow windy street and cars drove pretty fast on it. Cathy stopped in a shop to look at things. I was waiting for her and a group of school girls asked if they could interview me. They asked where I was from and how I liked Baku. I only got a picture of them as they left

I continued up the street full of interesting buildings until I came to a spot overlooking the Sulfur Baths

When she caught up to me we went into a park and sat down. The park was full of school children. they had uniforms on and then they all changed clothes. Cathy asked what they were doing and a woman said they were graduating.

I watched as a bucket truck pulled in and three men proceeded to change a street light

While we were sitting there, Kathryn texted that they were eating lunch at the Art Garden restoran. We walked over and joined them.

I ordered a Chicken Caesar Salad. It was large and very good

AJ was playing with a cat that lived in the restaurant. AJ had a Pin Wheel and the cat played a long time then went and curled up in it's basket

The restaurant had a unique door to the Men's Room

We continued up the street and steps to the Palace of the Shirvanshahs

We toured the upper floor of the palace.

There were lots of displays.

We left the palace and headed back to the hotel on foot with Kathryn, Erik, AJ and Aksel. We stopped at a coffee shop for a rest and something to drink

They had a lot to choose from. I had a Choco Cookie

We cut across to the Promenade and walked to the hotel

It was nice walking along the Caspian Sea on a warm sunny day

Cathy and I stopped at the Park Bulvar Mall.

We went downstairs to the Bazar store

It was a nice grocery store. We picked up snacks and drinks. Got some instant coffee and a bottle of wine.

Cut across through the wrong underground street crossing and had to walk considerably farther because things were blocked off for the upcoming Formula 1 race.
